MOCA’s opening gala for the famous Surrealistic painter, Lucian Freud, was a night of grand spectacle and undeniable honesty. Firefly transformed the Geffen Contemporary into a visual playground, as multiple HD projectors bounced images and custom content off the room’s giant walls. 

 

The museum patrons gathered in the galleries to see more than 100 nudes, portraits, and other paintings for the only U.S. showing of Freud’s intense, penetrating work.

 

The centerpiece of the evening-aside from the fascinating exhibit-was the small stage where performance artists and dancers dazzled the guests with intricate choreography, only heightened by the accompaniment of Firefly’s precise projections.

 

MOCA’s former director, Jeremy Strick, sent a personal note to Firefly, expressing his gratitude for the integral part they played in the evening. It was an unforgettable celebration of the power and raw strength of an artist free to work without filters.
